Does Prime Day Affect Pitch Black?
Prime Day ends on 13 July. Pitch Black releases on 17 July, four days later. The two events do not overlap.
However, there are two ways Prime Day is relevant to Pitch Black buyers:
1. Buy other Pokemon products during Prime Day, save your Pitch Black budget for 17 July. If you want to pick up a booster box from an earlier SV set at a Prime Day discount, do that during 7 to 13 July and then buy Pitch Black at regular retail on 17 July. This is the best way to use Prime Day if Pitch Black is already your primary target.
2. Check for a preorder deal on Amazon AU during Prime Day. Amazon AU occasionally lists upcoming product with a preorder at a promotional price. Check the Pitch Black listing on Amazon AU from 7 July. If a preorder deal appears during Prime Day, lock it in. If not, buy at launch on 17 July.
Expected Product Types and Price Ranges
Based on the standard Scarlet and Violet release structure, Pitch Black is expected to include the following product types at these approximate retail prices. Exact pricing will be confirmed closer to the release date:

- Elite Trainer Box: AU$75 to AU$90

Given the significance of the Mega Evolution return, demand for Pitch Black at launch is likely to be high. If you want a booster box, consider preordering from Amazon AU or your local game store before 17 July to ensure stock. Launch-day sellouts on popular sets do happen in Australia.
Singles Strategy for Pitch Black
Pitch Black will have key chase cards, almost certainly including Mega forms of the most popular Pokemon. Here is the standard advice for buying singles from a new Pokemon set:
- Week 1 prices will be high. Initial singles prices from any new set are driven by hype, limited supply, and speculators. Do not buy chase cards in week 1 unless you need them for competitive play immediately.
- Week 3 to 6 is the buy window. After the initial hype settles and more product has been opened, prices on most singles drop. The exception is cards that prove genuinely format-defining, which can hold or increase in value.
- Monitor prices on the C3 tracker. The C3 Pokemon card tracker will have Pitch Black singles data as the set becomes available. Use it before buying any card above AU$30.
