Since Riftbound launched and RQ Sydney was announced, we have been fielding the same questions from Australian players. Here are the 15 most common ones, answered directly.

Is Riftbound available in Australia?

Yes. Riftbound is available through major Australian TCG retailers including Cherry Collectables, Gameology, Good Games, and Collectible Madness. All three current sets (Origins, Spiritforged, and Unleashed) have had Australian distribution.

How much does a Riftbound booster box cost in Australia?

Unleashed booster boxes (24 packs, 14 cards per pack) are priced at approximately AU$110-130 at Australian retailers. Individual packs are roughly AU$5-7. Preconstructed Champion Decks are AU$25-35 and are the most affordable entry point.

Where can I buy Riftbound singles in Australia?

eBay AU is currently the primary Australian singles market. Our eBay store carries Riftbound singles with Australian shipping.

Do I need to know League of Legends to play Riftbound?

No. Knowledge of League helps because the champions and lore will be familiar, but the card game teaches itself. New player resources are widely available.

What is the best Champion Legend for beginners?

Annie, Dark Child (Fury/Chaos) is widely recommended. Her game plan, develop aggressively and use cheap spells to stay ahead, is intuitive and consistent. For a stronger competitive ceiling from the start, Fiora (Grand Duelist) has a clear game plan and well-documented card pool.

What are Domains in Riftbound?

Domains are the six colour identities: Fury (Red), Calm (Green), Mind (Blue), Body (Orange), Chaos (Purple), and Order (Yellow). Each Champion Legend uses exactly two Domains, which determines what cards you can include in your deck.

How does winning work in Riftbound?

First player to score 8 points wins. You score points by conquering Battlefields, designated zones where players send their units to fight. Unlike most TCGs, you are never trying to reduce your opponent's life points to zero.

What are Overnumber cards?

Overnumber cards are alternate art variants numbered above the official set card count (219 in Unleashed). They are always the most visually distinctive cards in any set and command the highest prices in the secondary market. One Overnumber appears in roughly one out of every three booster boxes.

What is the Ultimate rarity?

Ultimate is a new rarity introduced in Unleashed, sitting above Overnumber as the single rarest card tier in the game. The only Ultimate Rare in Unleashed is Baron Nashor, appearing in under 0.1% of packs.

What are the new mechanics in Unleashed?

Unleashed introduces three new mechanics. XP is a resource you accumulate during the game and spend to activate enhanced abilities. Hunt allows units to gain XP by conquering or holding Battlefields. Ambush lets you play a unit as a Reaction during the opponent's turn when you already have units at a Battlefield.

Is Riftbound competitive in Australia?

Yes, and growing fast. RQ Sydney (May 15-17) at Sydney Showground is the first APAC Regional Qualifier, with a USD$25,000 prize pool and top 64 invitations to the Regional Championship.

What is the difference between Constructed and Sealed play?

Constructed means you build your deck beforehand from cards you own. This is the format for Regional Qualifiers. Sealed means you are given a pool of product at the event and build a deck from only those cards on the spot. Pre-Rift events (local prereleases) use Sealed format and are right for new players.

Will Riftbound get more Australian events after Sydney?

Yes. RQ Singapore in September is the next APAC event, and more Australian events are expected as the region's player base grows. Local Summoner Skirmish events at game stores continue running through the year.

How big is the Riftbound competitive scene globally?

The competitive structure includes Regional Qualifiers across North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific, all feeding into Regional Championships, which in turn feed into the first-ever Riftbound World Championship. Seven RQs are confirmed for 2026 alone.

Should I start now or wait for Vendetta?

Start now. The Unleashed meta is fresh, the player base is small enough that newer players can rise quickly, and RQ Sydney is the first major APAC event. Vendetta releases July 31 and will shift the meta, but anyone who starts learning Unleashed now will be well-positioned for RQ Singapore in September.

More Questions Australian Riftbound Players Are Asking

Is Riftbound legal in tournaments if I bought it from overseas?

Yes. Official English-language Riftbound products are tournament legal regardless of where you purchased them. The product must be in English and from an official release (not proxies or fan-made cards). Japanese or Chinese-language cards are not tournament legal in English events.

Do I need to own the same Champion card as my opponent to play?

No. Each player has their own Champion card that stays in their Champion Zone. You and your opponent will have different Champions (that is the point of the format). You only need one copy of your Champion card for your own deck.

Can I use cards from Origins (Set 1) in the current format?

Yes. Riftbound currently runs a format with no rotation: all sets from Origins onwards are legal in constructed play. Rotation may be announced as the game matures, but as of May 2026 the entire card pool is legal.

How does the prize pool work at events like RQ Sydney?

At RQ Sydney 2026, the top 32 players shared a USD$25,000 prize pool. First place received USD$6,000. More importantly, top 64 finishers earn invitations to the Regional Championship, which feeds toward the first Riftbound World Championship. Prize money and invitation qualification are separate: you can earn an invitation without finishing in the top 8.

Where can I watch Riftbound competitive play in Australia?

Riot Games and event organisers stream RQ and Regional events. The Riftbound Australia Discord and Facebook group share stream links when events are live. Post-event coverage is available on the official Riftbound YouTube channel.

Is Riftbound going to last as a TCG?

This is impossible to predict with certainty. The indicators are positive: Riot Games has the resources to support the game long-term, the IP (League of Legends) has a massive global audience, and the global competitive circuit is structured and growing. RQ Sydney being the first APAC event suggests Riot is committed to the region. Nothing is guaranteed in TCGs, but Riftbound has stronger structural backing than most new games.

How does Riftbound compare to Pokemon and MTG in Australia?

Riftbound is significantly smaller in player base than both Pokemon and MTG in Australia. This is expected for a game launched in 2024. The player base is growing quickly, particularly after RQ Sydney, and organised play structures are in place. For players who want the largest community and most established game, Pokemon and MTG remain ahead. For players who want to be part of building a competitive scene from the ground floor, Riftbound is an interesting option.
