This guide covers the official rates, compares them to what we actually observed from four boxes, and explains what each card type is.

The Guarantee Structure

Riftbound is built around guarantees rather than probability ranges. The official pack composition for Unleashed:

Per pack:

Per box (24 packs):

These are the stated rates from Riftbound.gg and the official Riftbound site.

What Each Card Type Is

Alternate Art cards are alternate illustrations of existing cards in the set. In Unleashed, these are marked with an "a" suffix after the card number (024a for Rengar, 028a for Pyke, etc.). The art is a different interpretation of the same character, often stylistically distinct from the base version. Two per box, guaranteed.

Overnumbered cards are cards numbered above the base set count of 219. Unleashed has overnumbered cards at positions 226, 230, 233, and potentially others. These are high-rarity cards that appear at roughly one in three boxes. Unlike alternate arts they are not guaranteed per box.

Signed cards are cards with an artist's signature printed directly on the card. At one in thirty boxes, these are effectively chase-tier cards that most players will never pull from a standard box opening. If you pull a signed card you are having a very good day.

Foil cards in Riftbound are parallel versions of base cards with a foil treatment. Unlike Lorcana which guarantees one foil slot per pack, Riftbound's foils appear as part of the standard rare slot distribution. Our four-box opening showed a 24.2% foil rate across listed singles, which is significantly higher than most TCGs.

What We Actually Pulled: Four Boxes

We tracked every card from four booster boxes opened in May 2026. Here is how the official rates held against reality.

Alternate arts: Expected 8 across four boxes (2 per box). We pulled exactly 8. The guarantee held.

Overnumbered cards: At 1 per 3 boxes, expected 1 to 2 across four boxes. We pulled 3. Slightly above the average expectation, within normal variance.

Signed cards: At 1 per 30 boxes, expected 0 from four boxes. We pulled 0. Expected outcome.

Foil rate: 287 foils from 1,184 listed singles. 24.2% foil rate across the pool.

The Roundtable: Six Perspectives on Riftbound's Pull Rate Structure

Maya (market analysis): Guarantees are a meaningful design choice. Two alternate arts per box creates a price floor for those specific cards because supply is tied to box sales rather than raw probability. If Riftbound becomes popular in Australia, alternate art prices will track box prices in a more predictable way than equivalent cards in a game with random rare rates.

Dan (player perspective): I appreciate that Riot has been upfront about the rates. The TCG market has had too many situations where pull rates were opaque or misleading. Knowing exactly what you get per box makes the purchase decision rational. You are buying a known product, not a lottery ticket with unknown odds.

Sam (singles trader): The overnumbered cards at one in three boxes are the most interesting segment. If a specific overnumbered card becomes competitively important, supply is constrained by box sales in a way that a standard rare is not. That creates price upside if the game grows.

Priya (community): The signed card rate at one in thirty boxes is probably too rare for most players to feel they have a genuine shot at. Compare this to Pokemon's rainbow rare or gold card rates which are high enough that a single box has a real chance at one. Signed cards in Riftbound feel more like a collector's trophy than a realistic pull.

Ren (new player): I did not know any of this before reading it. The fact that two alternate arts are guaranteed per box is actually a big selling point. It means every box has something above the base rares. That feels fair.

Kai (contrarian): Guarantees are only valuable if the guaranteed cards are worth more than their proportional cost at box price. If you pay AU$X for a box and the two guaranteed alternate arts are worth AU$Y combined, the guarantee only adds value if Y is a meaningful fraction of X. That depends entirely on secondary market prices, which are unpredictable for a game that is less than one year old.

Practical Advice

If you are opening Riftbound Unleashed in Australia:

Expect from one box: 2 alternate art cards, roughly 80 regular cards, roughly 25 foil cards, a chance at one overnumbered card, and no signed card.

Expect from four boxes: 8 alternate art cards (guaranteed), full base set coverage in regular prints, 250+ foil cards across the range, 1-2 overnumbered cards on average, and still no expected signed card.
