Quick Answer
Every Riftbound starter product in Australia is built around a specific champion. Champion Decks retail at AU$39.99 RRP and contain a 56-card ready-to-play deck, a champion Legend card, 12 Runes, 3 Battlefields, a paper playmat, how-to-play guide, and a booster pack. Eleven Champion Decks have been released across Origins, Spiritforged, and Unleashed as of May 2026. The Proving Grounds four-deck starter box sold out at AU retail and a reprint is confirmed but not yet dated. Browse current Riftbound singles and set prices at /cards/riftbound.
What Every Riftbound Starter Deck Contains
All Riftbound Champion Decks follow the same contents formula regardless of set or champion: 40 main deck cards, 1 Champion Legend card, 12 Rune cards, 3 Battlefield cards, 1 booster pack from the same set, a paper playmat, a how-to-play booklet, and a cardboard deck box. At AU$39.99 RRP, every Champion Deck is self-contained and playable against another Champion Deck immediately.
The key design decision is that every Champion Legend is Rare rarity, not Epic or Overnumbered. This means the core competitive piece of any starter deck is accessible without chasing ultra-rare pulls. Your champion is guaranteed in the box, not a variable.
Origins Champion Decks: Viktor, Jinx, Lee Sin
Three Champion Decks launched with Origins in October 2025.
Viktor (Order and Chaos Runes) is the control champion. Viktor decks are built around careful sequencing, machine augmentation of units, and outlasting opponents through card advantage. Viktor rewards patience. If you prefer thinking multiple turns ahead and winning by attrition rather than speed, this is your deck.
Jinx (Chaos and Fury Runes) is the aggression champion. Jinx decks attack fast, put pressure on from turn one, and aim to end the game before opponents can stabilise. This is the deck for players who want to play proactively and commit to the board early.
Lee Sin (Calm and Order Runes) is the mobility and interaction champion. Lee Sin decks use precise timing, counterplay, and unit positioning to control engagements. More technical than Jinx but less passive than Viktor.
Note: Origins Champion Decks had sold out at several AU retailers as of early 2026. Check current stock at your local game store or eBay AU before ordering online. Spiritforged Champion Decks: Rumble, Fiora
Two Champion Decks launched with Spiritforged in February 2026.
Rumble (Fury and Chaos Runes) is the aggressive equipment champion. Rumble decks use Spiritforged's new equipment cards to power up Units for overwhelming attacks. Rumble rewards players who want to build up a big board and hit hard. If you enjoyed the concept of pumping creatures in other card games, Rumble is the Riftbound equivalent.
Fiora (Order and Calm Runes) is the precision duelling champion. Fiora decks are built for targeted combat, one-on-one unit exchanges, and point-damage execution. This is a technical deck that rewards clean play over brute force.
Unleashed Champion Decks: Vi, Vex
Two Champion Decks launched with Unleashed on May 8, 2026, at AU$39.99 RRP.
Vi (Fury and Order Runes) is the physical combat champion. Vi decks are direct, powerful, and built for players who want to control the board through aggressive engagement. Vi introduces the XP mechanic and builds XP through combat.
Vex (Calm and Chaos Runes) is the disruptive control champion. Vex decks are built around disrupting opponent plans, punishing overcorrections, and using Vex's pessimism mechanic to generate advantage from your opponent's actions. This is the most reactive starter deck in the current lineup.
Proving Grounds: The Multi-Player Starter
The Proving Grounds box is a separate product from Champion Decks. It contains four preconstructed decks (Annie, Master Yi, Lux, Garen), game boards, champion standees, a detailed how-to-play guide, and enough for two to four players to start immediately. The original Origins Proving Grounds is confirmed for a reprint but had no release date as of March 2026. Check your local game store for stock, as some stores received stock ahead of the announced restock.
Which Starter Should You Buy?
The correct answer depends on how you want to play, not which champion looks interesting on the packaging.
If you want fast, aggressive games with clear early decisions: Jinx (Origins) or Vi (Unleashed). Both punish hesitation and reward commitment.
If you want to think through turns carefully, build engines, and win through superior planning: Viktor (Origins) or Vex (Unleashed).
If you want a technical, interactive game with positioning and counterplay: Lee Sin (Origins) or Fiora (Spiritforged).
If you want to build up big Units with equipment and overwhelm opponents: Rumble (Spiritforged).

The C3 Take
Eleven Champion Decks across three sets, all at the same AU$39.99 RRP, all with the same contents structure. Riot made the entry point consistent deliberately, and it works. The choice of which deck to buy first matters less than people think because the game teaches you what it needs after five or six games, and that tells you which singles to add next. Buy the champion whose playstyle description matches how you want to feel at the table, not the one with the best art. The art is great across all of them.
