MTG Jumpstart released July 2020 as a unique booster format where two packs are combined to instantly create a playable 40-card deck. Each pack has a theme such as Pirates, Dinosaurs, Phyrexians, or Unicorns and contains cards exclusively from Jumpstart alongside reprints. Several Jumpstart-exclusive cards have become Commander staples. Note: the EV calculation works differently for this format since packs are designed to be combined not cracked individually. Expected value (EV) in TCG is calculated by multiplying the pull rate of each card rarity by the average secondary market value of cards in that rarity tier, then summing across all cards in a pack and multiplying by the number of packs you are opening.
For Australian players, we use AUD-denominated prices sourced from the Australian secondary market rather than USD TCGPlayer prices, which can differ by 15 to 30 percent after currency conversion and import costs. Our AUD values are based on recent eBay Australia sold listings for cards in each rarity tier.

Jumpstart is a unique product designed for a different play experience — combining two themed packs to create an instant deck rather than drafting. Several cards are exclusive to Jumpstart and have become Commander staples, including Tinybones Trinket Thief, Inquisitive Puppet, and the full Allosaurus Shepherd. The themed packs create an interesting EV dynamic where the value depends on which theme combination you open. As a 2020 product with a unique format, EV calculation is approximate and depends heavily on which exclusive rare appears in each pack.
If you are primarily interested in specific singles rather than the experience of opening packs, buying singles on eBay AU will almost always give better value than box EV suggests, because you pay only for the cards you actually want.
