MTG EV Calculator — Australia
MTG Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth remains one of the strongest performing MTG sets in the Australian secondary market. The One Ring (serialised 1-of-1) set the record for the most valuable MTG card ever found in a booster pack. Even beyond that, cards like Aragorn, Gandalf, and the Sauron mythics hold solid AU value. At AU$180 for a 36-pack box, run the calculator below with your purchase price for a current AUD verdict.

Expected value (EV) in TCG is calculated by multiplying the pull rate of each card rarity by the average secondary market value of cards in that rarity tier, then summing across all cards in a pack and multiplying by the number of packs you are opening.
For Australian players, we use AUD-denominated prices sourced from the Australian secondary market rather than USD TCGPlayer prices, which can differ by 15 to 30 percent after currency conversion and import costs. Our AUD values are based on recent eBay Australia sold listings for cards in each rarity tier.

MTG Lord of the Rings released in June 2023 and continues to generate strong secondary market interest in Australia due to the enduring popularity of the IP. The set introduced The One Ring as a 1-of-1 serialised card, which sold for over USD$2 million. Beyond that single card, the set has a deep roster of fan-favourite characters that sustain ongoing demand. At AU$180 per box, it represents reasonable value compared to other legacy MTG sets still available on Amazon AU.
If you are primarily interested in specific singles rather than the experience of opening packs, buying singles on eBay AU will almost always give better value than box EV suggests, because you pay only for the cards you actually want.
