MTG EV Calculator — Australia
MTG Ultimate Masters released December 2018 and is widely considered the gold standard of MTG reprint sets. The set contains some of the most powerful and expensive cards in MTG history including Snapcaster Mage, Liliana of the Veil, Dark Depths, and Cavern of Souls. Box topper cards — oversized premium alternate art versions — were included with each box. Run the calculator below for a current AUD verdict.

Expected value (EV) in TCG is calculated by multiplying the pull rate of each card rarity by the average secondary market value of cards in that rarity tier, then summing across all cards in a pack and multiplying by the number of packs you are opening.
For Australian players, we use AUD-denominated prices sourced from the Australian secondary market rather than USD TCGPlayer prices, which can differ by 15 to 30 percent after currency conversion and import costs. Our AUD values are based on recent eBay Australia sold listings for cards in each rarity tier.
| Rarity Tier | Pull Rate | Avg per Box (24 packs) | Est. Avg Value AUD |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mythic Rare | 1 in 8 packs (12.5%) | ~3 | $25.00–$120.00+ |
| Rare | 1 per pack minimum | ~24 | $3.00–$30.00 |
| Traditional Foil | ~1 in 3 packs | ~8 | Variable, high premium |
| Box Topper (1 per box) | Guaranteed per box | 1 | $30.00–$200.00+ |

Ultimate Masters is the pinnacle of MTG reprint sets. Every rare in the set has Legacy or Vintage relevance and the mythic cycle is made up entirely of cards that were worth AU$40-200+ before this set. Snapcaster Mage, Liliana of the Veil, Dark Depths, Cavern of Souls, and Emrakul the Aeons Torn are all in this set. Each booster box also came with one Box Topper — an oversized premium alternate art version of a key set card — worth AU$30-200+ depending on which card. Finding this box at AU$180 is exceptional value given the density of high-demand reprints.
If you are primarily interested in specific singles rather than the experience of opening packs, buying singles on eBay AU will almost always give better value than box EV suggests, because you pay only for the cards you actually want.
